Pukalani, Hawaii
Tenant Credit Report Service
Pukalani is a
census-designated place (CDP) in Maui
County, Hawaii, United States. The
population was 7,380 at the 2000 census.
Pukalani is Hawaiian for "hole (puka) in the
sky (lani)" and is named this because
Haleakala volcano, on whose western slope
Pukalani is located, creates a unique
weather pattern opening blue sky above the
town. The general volcano-slope region,
including nearby Makawao and Kula, is
referred to as "upcountry" by the locals,
and is one of the three major population
centers on Maui, the other two being Kahului
and Kihei, both of which are at sea level.
